Okay, I’ve long since given up on weekly posts about fan videos from YouTube, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still do it from time to time. And some times, there might be a fan creation so mind blowingly awesome that I can’t not post it. This weekend, YouTube user kiteburg uploaded an AMV of “Come With Me!!” – the song, not the live event (duh) – though to simply refer to this as an “AMV” doesn’t quite do it justice. With all original artwork and animation, I can only imagine how time consuming the creation of this video must have been, and I have to congratulate kiteburg on a job well done.

Happy Birthday Azusa!
I've said before that I am not one to celebrate the birthdays of fictional characters, but I couldn't really call myself a K-On! fan, much less one that runs a K-On! fan blog, if I didn't at least mention this, now could I? So yeah, it's Azunyan's birthday today. Festivities to be had by fans everywhere. And here's a YouTube vid for the occasion (it seems I've stopped doing the weekly Fan Stuff posts, so I think this is as good a time as any to post it):

News: K-On! fan matchmaking party in Tokyo
Well, here are some news I didn’t expect to read this morning: Anime News Network reports that matchmaking campaign “I’m Single” will host a matchmaking party for K-On! fans aged 20 to 45 on October 22nd.
The event is being held at the Roumantei Italian restaurant in Tokyo, and attendance fee is 6,000 yen for men and 1000 yen for women. It might seem unfair that men have to pay six times more than women, but considering K-On! is a seinen (young men) manga, it stands to reason that the majority of fans are male and thus jacking up the price is a good way of evening out the male/female attendee ratio (That’s only my speculation, of course! Not any kind of official reasoning).
In other news, TBS’ official K-On! website posted a new 30 second trailer for the K-On! movie earlier this week. Unfortunately, this trailer is merely a shortened version of the previously released trailer and features no new footage, so instead of wasting time with that; here’s the original full-length trailer again, this time with higher quality video thanks to YouTube user MrMitsu89:

Fan stuff! Azunyan…
With the release of K-On! volume 3 on Blu-Ray and DVD, Azusa has now been properly introduced to American audiences (yes, yes, I realize everyone knew about her already. Just play along). To celebrate the arrival of the new Light Music Club member, let’s watch some old YouTube clips about her, shall we? First, a bit of silliness…
Next, a bit of silliness…
And finally, a bit of silliness bordering on creepy.
Speaking of Azunyan, I think it’s time to have a look at that K-On! movie app again to see how much time is left until the movie premiere.
Wait – what…?

Fan stuff! Happy birthday Ritsu!
I’m not really the type to celebrate a fictional character’s fictional birthday. But with the nature of this blog being what it is, I can’t really ignore it either, can I? It’s Ritsu’s birthday! Even the K-On! movie countdown app featured Ritsu today.

| "Happyness". Wait, isn't Yui the one who's supposed to be wearing the strangely relevant shirts? |
So, here’s a video with random Ritsu moments. It features a lot of clips from the second season, but nothing too spoilerish, I think.
Talented young drummer Senri Kawaguchi doing a drum cover of Ritsu’s first character song, “Girly Storm Shissou Stick”. Nice.
Finally, there’s this. Whatever this is.

Fan stuff! Funny AMV’s that don’t suck!
You know, it’s hard to find AMV’s on YouTube. Wait, let me rephrase that – it’s hard to find AMV’s that don’t suck on YouTube. Not because there aren’t any, but because they are vastly outnumbered by crappy videos consisting of really bad selection of clips (Hello? Showing a long section of a random dialogue scene isn’t going to make for a very exciting music video!), often with text from a fansub plastered all over the picture and taken from a source of the most horrible quality, with no regard to how it (doesn’t) fit the chosen song – which, of course, is a random stupid pop song that has nothing to do with what’s going on in the anime those clips are from (or alternatively, the song “Numb” by Linkin Park, which apparently is good for any occasion). Bonus points if the AMV is intended to tell a story (most likely some ship crap), but the story is told entirely in the video description because the video itself is an incoherent mess. Extra bonus points if it’s an attempt to make a “deep” and “angsty” video out of a light comedy anime.
Sometimes, it’s just a great relief to come across some silly little thing like this.
Or this.
Or this… the epic, unholy K-On!/DMC/Tenacious D crossover. (Warning: Do not watch this unless you’re an adult. NSFW, I mean it!)

Fan Stuff! Band Edition
One of the things you’ll find a lot of on YouTube, is people doing their own covers of K-On! songs. A lot of the time, you’ll see some guy playing the instrument of his choice with the original recording in the background. Occasionally, though, you may find this type of video where someone had the bright idea to either edit several of these individual covers together to form a full band video, or collaborate with several other people to create one.
Yeah, I know the singer on that last one is a dude.

Fan stuff! K-On! MADness!!
Finding K-On! fan videos on YouTube can be brutal. I swear, I won’t subject you to this kind of thing on a regular basis.
The next video features madness of a very different and decidedly more sinister kind.
Now, as offensive as that was, I think the following video is even worse. My advice is; try not to think of it as entertainment. Think of it as a useful tool to punish your children with if they grow accustomed to beatings and regular emotional abuse.
I am truly sorry.

Fan stuff! For the first, but presumably not the last time!
Well, it’s Sunday, and you know what that means! …no, of course you don’t, since I’m only starting this tradition now. Well, here goes: Each Sunday, I’ll post about some of the many, many K-On! related fan creations that exist out there on the ol’ web.
To start off, here’s a video made by someone named “Kikino!” which is a shot-for-shot remake of the music video for “Rolling Star” by YUI (original can be seen here), but with the K-On! cast taking the place of the original band! Pretty cool, and very nicely done.
Secondly, we have this piece of weirdness. I will not try to describe it, but it’s pretty, uh, different from most K-On! fan videos.
And just because it made me smile – though I’m not really sure why – here’s a little exercise in pointlessness. Enjoy!
Have a happy weekend, and do check out this blog again soon! I’ll try to get some CD reviews up pretty soon.
